SECTION 2 / The Solution
Akuvox Intercom and Access Control with Mobile Entry
- Touchscreen Intercom Entry
Akuvox E16C touchscreen intercoms were installed at the front gate and front door, allowing visitors to call through to the internal screen inside the home and to the owner’s mobile phone when they are away.
- Keypad Access for Everyday Convenience
An Akuvox A02 keypad was installed near the side driveway/car area, giving the client a convenient way to open the gate without needing a physical remote or key.
- Electronic Strike Front Door Control
The front door was fitted with an electronic strike, allowing it to be opened electronically through the correct authorised access point. The gate intercom and keypad control gate access, while the front door touchscreen controls access into the home itself.
- Legacy Gate Integration
The new Akuvox system was wired into the existing sliding gate mechanism, upgrading the access experience without needing to replace the entire gate system.
- Facial Recognition Compatible Technology
The Akuvox range was selected because it provides strong support for facial recognition, giving the client a more advanced access control option than many standard residential intercom systems.
SECTION 1 / The Challenge
Modernising Entry Access Across Multiple Access Points
The client wanted a more advanced and convenient way to manage entry into their home, replacing the limitations of traditional keys and old-style gate remotes with a smarter access control solution.
The property already had a sliding gate mechanism in place, but it was operated through a standard key-fob style remote. The client wanted to control both the front gate and front door from their mobile phone, while also giving trusted visitors, cleaners or family members access through keypad entry. The system also needed to support two touchscreen intercom stations, one at the gate and one at the front door, with each access point controlling the right entry pathway.
The result was a modern keyless entry system that gave the client secure control over their gate and front door from touchscreens, keypad access and mobile devices.
This type of access control setup is also well suited to gyms, strata properties, multi-dwelling residences, high-rise buildings, offices without reception areas, and any site where multiple users need controlled access without relying on physical keys.
SECTION 3 / The Outcome
Keyless Entry with Flexible Remote Access
- Front gate access controlled by touchscreen, keypad and mobile phone
- Front door access controlled through the touchscreen intercom and electronic strike
- Mobile notifications and remote entry control when the client is away from home
- Reduced reliance on keys, remotes and rekeying if keys are lost
- Facial recognition functionality performed better than expected
- A cleaner, more modern entry experience across the home
